Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani

Born in village Brinty Batapora of District Anantnag Justice Mohd. Yousuf Wani, did his initial schooling from Government High School Brinty and passed his graduation in Science subjects from Government Degree College Anantnag in 1986. He passed his LL.B (Hons) Degree from Kashmir University in 1989. He was enrolled as Advocate with the Bar Council of J&K in the year 1990 and started practicing as an Advocate in the different courts at Anantnag. He was appointed as Munsiff in December 1997, pursuant to his selection by the J&K Public Service Commission upon qualifying his KCS (Judicial) Examination. He was promoted as Sub Judge in 2000 and as District & Sessions Judge in 2008. During his service tenure Justice Mohd. Yousuf remained posted as Munsiff Sumbal Sonawari, Sub Judge Uri, Judge Small Causes Srinagar, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shopian & Budgam, Judge Anti Corruption Srinagar, Additional District & Sessions Judge Baramulla and Srinagar, President Divisional Consumer Protection Forum Srinagar, Registrar Judicial High Court of J&K & Ladakh Srinagar Wing, Presiding Officer, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal Srinagar, Principal District & Sessions Judge Pulwama, Ganderbal, Budgam and Baramulla. He also remained posted as Member (Judicial) J&K Special Tribunal Srinagar. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh by the President of India, in exercise of powers under clause (1) of Article 224 of the consitution of India vide notificiaton No. K. 13021/03/2023-US.II Dated 21st March 2024 issued by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice. He assumed the charge of his office upon being administered the Oath of his office on 25th of March, 2024.
He took oath as Permanent Judge of High Court on 17th of March 2025.
