Justice Ranjan Sharma

Born in Faridkot on 21st August 1968, to Shri K C Sharma, IAS, retired as State Election Commissioner and Smt Saroj Sharma, Professor in Sanskrit. Had initial schooling in St Edward’s School, Shimla and then in Govt Senior Secondary School Dharamshala. Passed Integrated Law Course from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak during the session 1986-1991. Enrolled as an Advocate and started practice in December 1991 in High Court at Shimla. In May 1995, shifted for practice before Circuit Bench of State Administrative Tribunal. On abolition of Tribunal, shifted to Shimla in February 2009 and practised till July 2023. Served as Additional Advocate General for State of Himachal Pradesh, twice since July 2008 and then from February 2018 till December 2022. Represented various Boards, Corporations and Bank(s), including Himachal Road Transport Corporation, Himachal Agro Industries Corporation, Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation, Himachal Pradesh State Ex-serviceman Corporation, HP University of Forestry & Horticulture Nauni (Solan), Himachal Pradesh Tourism Dev Corporation, Municipal Council Dalhousie, Municipal Corporation Dharamshala, Baba Balak Nath ji Temple Trust Deothsidh (Hmr), Kangra Central Coop Bank Ltd and HIMURJA (Govt-Undertaking). Designated as Senior Advocate on 29th March 2019. Elevated as Permanent Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court on 31st July, 2023.
