Chief Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao
He was born on 07.08.1966 at Hyderabad. He studied B.Sc.(Hons.)(Mathematics) from Bhavans New Science College, Osmania University. He stood first in the University in B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics course. He passed LL.B. from University College of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad in 1989 and was awarded CVSS Acharyulu Gold Medal by the Osmania University for securing highest marks in the final year LL.B.
He enrolled as an Advocate on 07.09.1989.
He secured LL.M. from the University of Cambridge U.K. in 1991. He was awarded the Cambridge Common Wealth Scholarship and the Bank of Credit and Commerce International Scholarship for study of the LL.M. course at the Cambridge University, U.K. He was also awarded the Pegasus Scholarship by the Scholarship Trust, Inner Temple, London and was provided training in the Brick Court Chambers, Middle Temple, London and in Clifford Chance, a multinational Solicitors from London.
As Advocate, he was counsel for Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority, State Bank of India, State of Hyderabad, District Cooperative Central Bank, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, A.P. State Financial Corporation, The Institure of Public Enterprise and the Security and Exchange Board of India and several companies and financial Institutions. He was also appointed by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh as a Special Government Pleader in The High Court to deal with Urban Land Ceiling Matters.
He had practiced law in the area of Civil Law, Arbitration, Company Law, Administrative and Constitutional Law, Labour and Service Law.
His father Mr. Justice M. Jagannadha Rao was a former Judge of The Supreme Court of India (1997-2000) and former Chairman of Law Commission of India. His grand father M.S. Ramachandra Rao was also a Judge of The High Court of Andhra Pradesh from 1960-1961.
His Lordship Sri Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao was elevated as Addl. Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on 29.06.2012. Appointed as Judge of High Court of Andhra Pradesh and assumed charge as such on 04.12.2013. Appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice, High Court for the State of Telangana w.e.f. 31.08.2021 forenoon.
Transferred as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and assumed charge of office on the forenoon on 12.10.2021.
