Justice Gopinath P.

Born on 13.11.1972, Justice Gopinath completed LL.B from the Government Law College Ernakulam and was the first rank holder in the LL.B Final Examination. He was enrolled as an advocate on 7.1.1996 and started his practice under the tutelage of Sri.K.Ramakumar, Senior Advocate. In 1998 he secured admission for the LL.M Degree Course at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom and was also the recipient of Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship, a fully funded Scholarship, for undertaking post graduate study at the University of Cambridge, in that year. While at Cambridge he was selected as the incoming Pegasus Scholar of the Inner Temple and thus had the opportunity to intern at leading Barrister's Chambers in London. Later he joined the office of Sri.P.S Sreedharan Pillai, who was then the Senior Standing Counsel for the Government of India. After setting up independent practice in 2004, he was appointed as Central Government Counsel for two consecutive terms and also as the Senior Standing Counsel for the Central Board of Excise and Customs. In 2009 he joined Menon & Pai Advocates as a Partner. He had extensive practice in areas of Constitutional Law, Taxation, Company Law and Banking. He was designated as a Senior Advocate by the High Court of Kerala on 18.12.2018. He was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Kerala on 06.03.2020.
