Justice Sudeepti Sharma

Her Lordship Justice Sudeepti Sharma holds an esteemed position as a distinguished legal professional with a diverse background and extensive experience. Born on March 7, 1969, Her Lordship is a graduate with honors in English from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and possesses an M.A. in Sociology from the same university. Additionally, Her Lordship obtained a law degree from H.P. University, Shimla.

Throughout Her Lordship’s educational journey, Her Lordship actively participated in NSS, contributed to adult literacy programs, and engaged in Community Oriented Policing with Chandigarh Police. Enrolled with the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh, Her Lordship has been a respected member of the Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association since 1998.

Commencing Her Lordship's professional journey as a private counsel, Her Lordship practiced law in various courts, including the Punjab & Haryana High Court, District Courts in Chandigarh, and tribunals.

Notably, Her Lordship served as a Punjab State Law Officer, Commencing as an Attached Assistant Advocate General in the office of the Ld. Advocate General, Punjab, on July 13, 2005, she progressed to become Deputy Advocate General on September 23, 2008, and subsequently served as Additional Advocate General till August 20, 2022. In these capacities, Her Lordship:

1. Provided Legal Counsel: Offered expert legal advice to the State of Punjab, handling a broad spectrum of cases including writs, constitutional, service, land acquisition, revenue, mines & minerals, contempt, tender, arbitration, civil, criminal, and taxation matters.

2. Handled Tax Matters: Demonstrated proficiency in dealing with complex tax issues, showcasing a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations during Her Lordship’s tenure in the Advocate General’s office.

3. Empanelments with Government Bodies: Secured prestigious positions as a Super-A category Counsel for various government entities such as the Department of Local Government, Punjab Infrastructure Development Board, Punjab School Education Board, and others, showcasing Her Lordship’s recognized expertise.

4. Engaged in Specialized Matters: Acted as a Special Counsel for Excise matters, further emphasizing Her Lordship’s specialization and proficiency in specific legal domains.

5. Amicus Curiae Appointments: Demonstrated commitment to justice by serving as Amicus Curiae appointed by different courts, contributing valuable insights in legal matters.

6. Investigated Social Issues: Showed dedication beyond legal duties by being appointed as a member of a commission investigating the sexual exploitation of inmates at APNA GHAR, Rohtak, showcasing Her Lordship’s commitment to societal well-being.
