Justice Harpreet Singh Brar
Born on 20.12.1975, Justice Harpreet Singh Brar hails from village Phulewala situated in District Sri Muktsar Sahib. His father late Sh. Gurbachan Singh Brar served the State of Punjab as Deputy District Attorney as well as Additional Advocate General. His wife is a Kindergarten Teacher and he is blessed with a son, who recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with major in Political Science.
· Passed Matriculation Examination in the year 1990, while studying in DAV High School, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Thereafter, obtained Bachelor of Arts degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 1995, while studying in the Government College, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Completed Bachelor of Laws degree in the year 1999, while studying in the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
·Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana on 26.05.2000.
·Served as Additional Advocate General, Punjab from 2009 to 2014. Served as Panel Counsel for Punjab Urban Planning & Development Authority, Greater Mohali Area Development Authority, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation, Punjab State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation, Punjab Agro Food Grains Corporation Limited, Punjab Energy Development Agency, Local Bodies Punjab etc.
·Elected as Member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana for three consecutive terms since 11.01.2008 and served twice as Honorary Secretary.
·Elected unanimously as Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana on 06.03.2019.
·Elected as President of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association for two consecutive terms, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017.
·Designated as a Senior Advocate on 26.05.2021.
·He organized and delivered lectures in legal literacy seminars in several Districts of Punjab and Haryana. During his career, conducted many pro bono cases and also assisted the Hon’ble High Court as amicus curiae in several cases. He specialized in Constitutional and Criminal law. His Lordship were elevated as Additional Judge at Punjab and Haryana High Court on 10.04.2023 and thereafter, sworn in as Permanent Judge at Punjab and Haryana High Court on 07.01.2025.
