JUSTICE DR. NEELA KEDAR GOKHALE

Born in Pune, Justice Dr. Neela Kedar Gokhale completed her LL.B. at Indian Law Society, Pune and LL.M. at Pune University, following which she went on to finish her Doctorate at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi.

Justice Gokhale enrolled herself as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in 1992 and started practicing in the District Courts of Pune primarily. During the said period, she also practiced before courts in various districts and before the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay.

Justice Gokhale apart from her practice was also actively involved in facilitating rehabilitation of distraught women, single mothers and adoption of children in her early days in Pune as a part of Mahila Seva Mandal. Subsequently, she moved to Delhi and started practicing before the Hon'ble Supreme Court specializing in a variety of matters ranging from constitutional law, adoption law, property laws, criminal law, public interest litigation and matters relating to the armed forces etc.

She remained connected to academia and was also a visiting faculty in Indian Law Institute, New Delhi for past 8 years.

Justice Gokhale, though has argued a variety of matters over three decades, but is known to voice and represent various matters of public importance like voting rights of the armed personnel, equal rights of women, guidelines on media trial etc. to name a few.

Justice Gokhale was thereafter elevated as Additional Judge of the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay on 30th January 2023.
