Justice S. Sounthar

Born on 29.07.1971 at Mayiladuthurai. Born to Mr.R.Sivapunniyam and Chinthamani. His father was a doyen of Mayiladuthurai bar association, who suspended his practice on elevation of his son. Married Mrs.K.BRINDHA, M.Tech., Graduate. Has one son namely S.SACHIN, who completed B.E., [Computer Science] with Anna University Rank. Now working in a leading software company INFOSYS.

Did schooling at Mayiladuthurai. Pursued 5 years law course at Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai. Enrolled as an Advocate on 13.10.1993 and joined the office of The Hon'ble Mr.Justice A.S.Venkatachalamoorthy, Retired Chief Justice of Chattisgarh High Court. Practiced before High Court, Madras from 13.10.1993 to till the date of elevation mainly in Civil Appellate Side, Writ and Criminal matters. Also handled Labour and Service matters.

Acquired Post Graduate Degree [M.L] in Law of Contracts including Mercantile Law. Served as Part-time Lecturer in Dr.Ambedkar Law College, Chennai for nearly 20 years and handled various subjects including Constitutional Law, Contracts Law, Property Law, Family Law, Land and Rent Control Laws, Code of Civil Procedure etc.

Mediator attached to Madras High Court Mediation Centre and mediated successfully number of cases.

As a resource person of Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy delivered Lectures in training programme organised for newly recruited Civil Judges [Junior Division].
