A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) appointed an amicus curiae to assist the court in examining the issue of allowing film shooting in national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and tiger reserves.
The Bench comprising Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji issued the order on a petition filed by Angels Nair of Perumbavoor challenging the permission granted for shooting of a Malayalam film in a reserved forest in Kasaragod in 2018. He alleged that the film unit had caused substantial damage to the forest.
